I believe that the area of the country from where you buy has a lot to do with price. Bottom line is, "whatever the market will bear." I live on the East Coast about an hour from Baltimore one way and an hour from Washington, DC the other and prices here are very steep. I bought my boy from Tennessee, drove 8 hours to get him one way and still paid way over $1,000.00 for him. My little girl came from PA, about 2 hours away and I paid just a little over $1,000.00 for her. I found out later if I'd driven a couple more hours up into PA I could have gotten the same quality dog for quite a bit less. While I don't believe either of the breeders were in in "just for the money", I do belive breeders will compete with the going price. I will never believe that price necessarily means quality, but Yorkies are so popular right now, unfortunately, we are all paying higher prices than we used to. |
