When Kiwi was about 6-7 mos old we noticed when we went to bed that she would sit up on the pillow by my head and when Peebles (our poodle) would start to come up to the top end of the bed Kiwi would leap and attack her.
The first few times we thought it was funny. But, we too started noticing that Peebles would walk on the edge of the mattress trying to find a place to sleep and Kiwi would be up by our heads giving off this dog language. We first worried Kiwi would get hurt because when she attacked Peebles they would fight and we had to stop them. Peebles is very gentle and even protecting herself she was gentle with Kiwi. Pebbles is 11 lbs-Kiwi is 5 lb and at the time Kiwi was like 3 lbs. Anyways, when we realized this was not funny and could develop into something bad-the next time it happened I tapped Kiwi and pulled Pebbles over to me-then I pulled Kiwi over and had them both sit with me. At first Kiwi was doing all sorts of dog language with the tilt of her head and ears. After a few times this has basically stopped. Every once in a while you can see Kiwi get in the body langauge and I will tap her head and say no and I will call Pebbles over while holding Kiwi and pet them both. It seems to be working. But Pebbles was pitiful when it first started.
