To not allow their members to share their knowledge, advice and experience with those who can really use it to help the dogs these breeders supposedly love, is unconscionable in my opinion. I used to find it hard to believe that some of these people could be cold enough to kill a puppy because it was the wrong color, but I don't any more. I know there are some really fine breeders who are members of the YTCA but when I challenged one of their written policies as well as the fact that the breed standard focuses so heavily on outward appearance some members thought I din't respect them, but that is not true. I think you can respect an organization but not aree with all of it's policies and rules. As far as I know, there are no YTCA members on this forum. I posted the question and so far everyone has answered no, either publicly or privately. I find this interesting. | |

| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think AKC frowns on selling their reg forms. This is a quote from my post. The word dog was not in it....maybe mis-read.. |

| clubs KIm...I think the YTCA.. and the regional club I have been involved with are excellent clubs. Many fine breeders, but I do not respect all in any club, do you? I have reframed from applying to the YTCA..and I have been asked and have two sponsors..but I have perfer not to at this point..although I could ask to join and not get in..who knows haven't applied to date...and I won't until I start showing again. You see, I was told I can not be on the Showbreeders list forum and post to Pet forums" and you will rarely see a YTCA member on these much needed forums..heck, I haven't seen any of my fellow club members on any...is that a bylaw, NO..but there are unspoken rules of conduct. Do I lump all YTCA members as snobbish because of this..of course not!!! I think things are loosening up alot. There are so many new people showing Yorkies now and younger people are not as willing to go along with old traditions. Terri did not resign due to any cruelty charge, neglect or AKC violation. It was a dispute with another club member..I choose to believe Terri's side. If they can ask a fine person like Terri and a fine judge to resign, it puzzles me also. Dog showing is very competative. There is tons of jealous and backstabbing. People are so afraid of what others think...I do not care what people think about me just as long as what I do is legal and ethical..and I feel good about myself. Don't let a few or a few dozen turn you off to YTCA or any show breeders...you are smart enough to discern who is geniune and worth knowing ..and there are MANY!!! |

| Thanks Pat~ My concern really is for some of the members here who are looking for a companion puppy and are being told by some other members that the only place to get one that is reputable is a YTCA member. Since this is not my experience I disagreed, and was accused (not by you, but some other members) of "bashing the YTCA". I agree that there is good and bad with any club/organization, and as a yorkie lover, when I found out they take companion dog owners as members I actually thought about joining. I could not uphold a lot of their polices however like the one against yorkies of a different color and I would want to work to include more about temperament in the standard, etc. I appreciate your insight on this organization. | breeders I don't think I recall the post.. Not only do I think you can buy from a non-club member, I think you can get gorgeous, healthy, bred to the standard Yorkies from breeders who do not show. SEE WHY I GOT KICKED OFF? lol Last edited by YorkieRose; 06-19-2005 at 12:17 PM. |
